Juneau – During the 2018 Board of Fisheries Meeting in Sitka, the Board adopted regulations that created a new Dungeness ecotourism fishery in Nakwasina Sound. While the registration period would typically close in early January, it was the Board’s intent to allow the fishery during 2018. Registration will be open through April 14 and the fishery begins April 15. Participants must register at the Department of Fish and Game office in Sitka.
Fishery Specifics
- During a calendar year of registration, a sports fishing operator or vessel registered may not participate in any other Dungeness crab fishery or any other guided sports fishery.
- From April 15 through September 30 a sports fishing guide registered for the Nakwasina Sound Dungeness crab fishery may not participate in any other Dungeness crab fishery or any other guided sports fishery as a guide or sports fishing operator during times when the guide is registered for the super-exclusive fishery.
- An ADF&G logbook is required and logbook sheets submitted weekly to the ADF&G Sitka office.
- Contact the Department at 747-5355 for additional information.
Head to the Pacific Northwest and you’ll find several walleye fishing opportunities. Oregon walleye fishing guides are currently offering walleye fishing trips in some sections of the main stem but the weather is not ideal if you’re not interested in fishing during cold weather conditions.
